Situation back in Kenya

There is a Swahili saying that says, "usishindane kunya na ndovu" literally meaning, do not compete with an elephant when it comes to passing stools. Right now stiff competition is taking place between our top leaders. In the negotiations, you can see it. As soon as Annan stops talking, Raila grabs the microphone to speak as Kibaki sits there. That is a gesture that will push back whatever agenda Annan may have to oblivion. Nothing will materialize from the talks. Someone has to lead the country and right now, Kibaki is the duly sworn in president. When he said that the other day, ODM attacked him en mass but he spoke the truth. He is the one holding the reigns and no amount of denial from ODM will change that. He has the power and authority that Raila does not. That's something that Raila and his team need to understand if Annan is to achieve anything at all. Going to the discussions like he is the president will only infuriate many and make a bad situation worse.

Is that the way to peace?
